On July 15, 2023, a “Care Hours” event was hosted by Taylor Street Farms, National Public Housing Museum and in c/o: Black Women – a Chicago-based group that works to collaboratively activate vacant spaces and provide inspiration for self-care and community regeneration.
We celebrated and thanked Legler Regional Library Artist-in-Residence Alexandra Antoine, Ebere Agwuncha, and Andrea Yarbrough (pictured above) of in c/o: Black women for designing and executing the seating project in our permaculture area. Many thanks to the wonderful volunteers that participated in the project.
Among the activities were Sage House Apothecary’s Christie Edwards and Corner Store Co-op’s Anton Hilton who guided visitors on a lavender and garlic sensory experience. Taylor Street Farms volunteer Sarah Dyksen gave everyone a tour of the lush garden. Alexandrea Antoine led a garden inspired painting activity for kids and adults alike.
Special thanks to the following Taylor Street Farm members who made the day so special!
